Sepha highlights Packaging and Leak Test Innovations at Achema 2022 Sepha highlights Packaging and Leak Test Innovations at Achema 2022

Sepha will return to Achema 2022 in Frankfurt this summer, attending the global innovation and technology summit of the process industry for the 7th time in row. The global supplier of innovative, specialised equipment for use in the manufacture of pharmaceutical blister packs, medical devices and healthcare products, will highlight its core packaging and leak test innovations in Hall 3.0, stand C17 from 22 – 26th August 2022.

Non-destructive leak test solutions

Sepha will demonstrate its non-destructive and deterministic CCIT & Leak Test solutions the Multi-Q HD and VisionScan 3D.

  • Multi-Q HD
The Multi-Q HD is a non-destructive, deterministic and reliable Container Closure Integrity (CCI) test system. Utilising the vacuum decay standard test method (ASTM F2338-09), the new Multi-Q HD takes integrity testing to the next level, enabling ultra-sensitive detection of defects in pharmaceutical containers down to 1μm (dependent on container type and content). The standalone, lab-scale leak test system can be used in combination with interchangeable attachments to fit the full range of parenteral container types available on the market today. These include glass or plastic vials, ampoules, pre-filled syringes, bottles and BFS (Blow Fill Seal) containers. Its compact, bench-top design means it can be used in the lab during drug development or for in-process batch testing to verify the integrity of containers being manufactured on the production line.
  • VisionScan 3D
The VisionScan 3D is a non-destructive, tool-less leak test solution for blister packs including all foil types. The next generation machine is built around a new 3D measurement technique to test the integrity of pharmaceutical blister packs down to 5μm (pack and material dependent). The system requires no tooling, while the large test area of 297x210mm enables multiple blister packs to be tested simultaneously. It is ideal for operations where multiple product changes are required. The machine utilizes the principle of vacuum deflection according to ASTM standard test method F3169-16. The new technology can be applied to all foil types, matt or gloss. Different text patterns can be tested with one test method, making it ideal for production lines with multiple language print variations. The system is designed to allow for easy calibration, quick set up times and a streamlined validation process across different foil types.

Digitalisation of low volume blister packaging

The line up is completed with the latest development in small scale blister packaging with the EZ Blister+.

  • EZ Blister+
The EZ Blister+ is a new compact small-batch blister packaging machine with full traceability and electronic data storage capabilities. The system meets increased demand for 21 CFR Part 11 compliant micro-batches throughout the blister production lifecycle, from R&D right through to commercial production. The EZ Blister+ provides the same proven blister packaging performance, but with added software capabilities that enable the creation of electronic signatures, batch reports, audit trails and other electronic documentation. The Structured Query Language (SQL) database system at the core of the EZ Blister+ powers a host of applications on the machine, from recipe creation and management to reporting, as well as facilitating integration with factory networks and Management Execution Systems (MES).
