Sepha showcases Packaging, Leak Test and Deblistering Innovations at interpack 2023

Sepha is excited to finally return to interpack 2023! After six years the most important international event for the packaging industry and related process industries is back, taking place in Messe Dusseldorf from 4th – 10th May 2023. The global supplier of innovative solutions for the pharmaceutical and medical device packaging industries will showcase its latest packaging, leak test and deblistering innovations in Hall 16, stand F38.

Non-destructive Leak Test Innovations

On display will be the core range of non-destructive and deterministic CCIT and Leak Test solutions developed for in-process control during manufacturing operations of oral solid dosage form, parenterals and flexible packaging.

VisionScan 3D
The VisionScan 3D is a revolutionary innovation developed to leak test pharmaceutical blister packs in a non-destructive and deterministic way. It is the product of choice for OSD manufacturers that want to move away from traditional test methods including blue dye ingress, that depend on operator judgement to pass or fail package integrity. The VisionScan 3D utilises a unique volumetric measurement technology (ASTM F3169-16) that enables manufacturers to identify channel leaks and defects in individual blister pockets as low as 5 micron. The system requires no tooling and the large test area of 297x210mm enables multiple blister packs to be tested simultaneously.

Multi-Q
The Multi-Q is a smart, bench-top Container Closure Integrity Test solution that works in combination with interchangeable attachments. The multi-functional system is non-destructive and deterministic and can test the full range of parenterals including vials, ampoules, bottles, cartridges, blow-fill seal strips, pre-filled syringes. Depending on content, the Multi-Q can be used for vacuum decay testing (water based liquids) and pressure decay testing (oil-based liquids, toxic, large molecules, powder), identifying defects as low as 5 micron. Sensitive products with a lower Maximum Allowable Leakage Limit (MALL), that require extra test sensitivity can be tested on the Multi-Q HD, our latest innovation that’s capable of detecting defects as low as 1 micron. The vacuum decay method utilizes the ASTM F2338-09 standard test methods and both vacuum and pressure decay test methods are in line with USP 1207.

PakScan
The PakScan is a non-destructive, multi-product seal integrity tester for pouches, sachets and other flexible packaging containing dry powder or solid components. The system can identify gross holes, leaks and weak seals down to 10μm (pack and material dependent) in up to 10 packs simultaneously within 30 seconds. The method provides deterministic and objective results, visualised on the result screen via a pass or fail for each individual packet. The software is developed in line with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulations enabling manufactures to store and export data for audit purposes, while protecting reports from being edited or deleted.

Low Volume Blister Packaging

In response to a growing demand in low volume blister packaging, Sepha has developed the first bench top blister packaging machine with full 21 CFR Part 11 capabilities.

EZ Blister+
The EZ Blister+ is a compact blister packaging machine to create low volumes of GMP compliant blister packs, offering full traceability and electronic data storage capabilities. The system meets increased demand for 21 CFR Part 11 compliant micro-batches throughout the blister production lifecycle, from R&D right through to commercial production. The EZ Blister+ can handle thermoform and cold-form materials and offers a 3-in-1 manufacturing process including pre-heating/forming, sealing and perforating/cutting. The machine eliminates the need to interrupt large blister lines, saving time and money, and gives more freedom to plan and budget smaller projects as and when required.

Automatic Deblistering

Sepha has developed a comprehensive range of manual, semi-automatic and automatic deblistering machines that offer speed, efficiency and safety in the recovery of valuable product from all types of rejected blister packs including push-through, child-resistant and peelable blisters. On display will be the PressOut Universal, a high-speed solution that uses innovative cutting technology that enables deblistering of child-resistant blister packs without contamination risk.

PressOut Universal
The PressOut Universal is a high-speed, automated deblistering machine that recovers tablets and capsules from rejected blister packs including child resistant and peelable packs. It uses sophisticated, gentle cutting technology ideal for recovering high value, fragile tablets and capsules and operates at a rate of up to 50 blister packs per minute.
