Sepha to Showcase VisionScan 3D at Pharmintech 2025 Sepha to Showcase VisionScan 3D at Pharmintech 2025

Sepha will be exhibiting at Pharmintech 2025, taking place at Fiera Milano, from 27–30 May, on the stand of our Italian partner Emme 3 (Hall 2, stand 151). Dedicated to processing, packaging, and quality control in the pharmaceutical and life science industries, the event brings together suppliers and manufacturers focused on advancing drug production and inspection technologies.

This year, Sepha will demonstrate its latest technology for non-destructive blister pack leak testing, with live demonstrations of the VisionScan 3D.

VisionScan 3D: Non-Destructive Leak Testing for Blister Packs

The VisionScan 3D is a non-destructive and deterministic leak test solutions for blister packs containing tablets or capsules. It utilises vacuum deflection in line with ASTM F3169-16(2024) standard test method and offers a superior and more accurate test results compared to dye ingress testing.

The system uses a clean, dry testing method that allows blister packs to be returned to the production line after testing. This helps reduce product waste and improve efficiency, while delivering reliable, repeatable results. Its tool-less design allows for testing across various pack formats, making it well suited for use in quality control labs, production line sampling, and R&D.

Benefits for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers

  • High sensitivity
The system uses vacuum deflection to identify channel leaks, weak seals and defects in individual blister pockets as small as 5µm (pack and material dependent).
  • Flexible and high throughput testing
The VisionScan 3D has a large test area (297x210mm) that enables testing of multiple packs simultaneously, providing pass/fail results for each pocket. Its tool-less design is perfect for production lines handling multiple products.
  • Can test all foil types
The system can handle all foil types, matt or gloss, while different text patterns can be tested with one test method, making it ideal for production lines with multiple language print variations.
  • 21 CFR Part 11 & MES
The device is designed to meet 21 CFR Part 11 requirements and can easily integrate with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) through its MES connector MESConnect
